Northern European 17th-18th Century Long-sleeve Vest

Clothes tended to be made out of wool during the late 17th and the 18th-century in Northern Europe. Wool is a lovely material that breaths, which explains why it was favoured, over other widely available material at the time. So naturally, the material was used for the uniforms. The Nordic nation used this long-sleeved vest underneath the uniforms of a similar type. It was mostly the colours and buttons that separated the design differences. A thing worth mentioning is that whereas modern versions of vests are sleeveless, this was not the case during this time period.
The military was during this time the Nordic nations and throughout Europe idolised. This resulted in a lot of military patterns filtered down to civilian fashion. Therefore, it is not uncommon to find civilian historical clothes of a similar, if not even identical design at times.

We have worked closely with historians and museums to create these uniforms and clothes. Our tailors sew this on-demand. This means lower prices for you but it will take 4 weeks to make your personalised item. Please check the table for sizes and if you want any alterations then send us an email and we can discuss your needs. However, special orders beyond standard sizes have an additional cost of SEK 400. Furthermore, we use quality material for all our products and our uniform jackets and wear use 100% wool and linen rather than blends. We believe that quality is in the details.

Ylle är ett fantastiskt material som andas. Det är därför lätt att förstå varför Norra Europa mer än gärna använde sig av detta material vid klädesproduktion under 16oo-1700-talet. De nordiska arméerna använde sig även av detta material för sina uniformer. Det gällde även dessa kamisoler. Dessa kamisoler var snarlika inom de Nordiska arméerna, där den största skillnaden är färger och val av knappar. Det är även värt att nämna att de flesta tror att västar saknar ärmar, men så var inte fallet under denna tidsperiod.
Under denna perioden i Nordisk samt Nordeuropisk historia såg civilbefolkningen up till militären som ett ideal. Detta gjorde att militärisk design sipprade in i allmogens mode. Man återfinner snarlika och nästintill identiska designer av dessa kamisoler i olika färger bland allmogen.
